Frequently Asked Questions
What is Blind Tunes?
Blind Tunes is a music ranking game. Build a playlist, listen to each song, and rank them — without knowing what comes next. When you’re done, everything is revealed. Find out what you actually like when the title and artist are taken out of the equation.
How do I play?
Choose “Build a Classic Playlist” from the home screen. Search for songs from Apple Music or videos from YouTube, add them to your playlist, choose your blind mode, and share the game. They’ll hear each track or watch each video and rank it from favorite to least favorite. After ranking, everything is revealed. You can also play it yourself if you want. Sharing the game is the fun part. If you know your friends tastes well it’s really fun to make them have to choose their real favorites or just mess up their whole day.
Where can I play?
Blind Tunes is available as an iOS app and on the web at blindtunes.com. Your account works on both — your playlists, rankings, and Premium status carry over.
Do I need an account?
You can jump in as a guest to try a game. Create a free account to save your playlists, track your rankings, and play up to 5 games a day. On the app, you can sign up with a username and email or use Sign in with Apple. On the web, sign up with a username and email.
Blind Modes
What are the blind mode options?
Full Blind hides everything — no artwork, no title, no artist. You only hear the music. Partial shows the album artwork but hides the title and artist. Open shows everything. Everything is still blind ranked so don’t worry too much about choosing which blind mode. YouTube shows everything because it’s a YouTube video.
Game Modes
What is Classic mode?
Build a playlist and rank each song one at a time. Simple, no pressure, and you can build playlists with up to 10 songs on a free account or up to 50 with Premium. I recommend not going all 50 but if you’re a little bit crazy go for it! 20 is about the max amount of songs I would say to make a playlist. 10 – 15 is the sweet spot for my taste.
What is Tournament Showdown?
Songs face off in head-to-head bracket matchups. You pick a winner each round until one track is crowned the champion. Up to 16 songs per tournament. Tournament Showdown is a Premium feature. You may pick, 4, 8, or 16 songs for your bracket. If you pick outside of these numbers, say 10 songs, it will default you to a classic playlist.
What is Multiplayer?
Create a room and invite a friend. You both build a playlist and rank the same songs blind, then compare your results side by side. Multiplayer is a Premium feature. You don’t need to pick the same number of songs. At the end you get your combined playlist.
What is the Playroom?
The Playroom lets you listen to your saved playlists. Think of it as your personal listening space for playlists you’ve already created or played. Playroom is a Premium feature.
What is the Daily Challenge?
A new curated playlist drops for that day or weekend on the home screen. Play it, rank it, and see how your taste compares. Sometimes I will use user created playlists that I really enjoyed playing. Most will have a theme but they can be completely random songs or videos at times.
Apple Music
Do I need an Apple Music subscription?
No. Without Apple Music, you’ll hear 30-second previews of every song. With an active Apple Music subscription, full songs play during the game. The previews work just fine for the blind ranking game and you can always look the songs up later from your playlist. If you do have Apple music, you can export your playlist into your Apple Music Library if you really like it.
How do I connect Apple Music?
On the iOS app, you’ll be asked to connect during setup. If you skipped it, go to your Profile and use the “Connect Apple Music” option. On the web, you’ll be prompted to authorize Apple Music when you start playing.
YouTube
How does YouTube work in Blind Tunes?
Switch to YouTube in the builder to search and add videos instead of songs. You can choose between Music Videos, Music, or Shorts. YouTube content plays as video directly in the game — blind mode is automatically set to Open since the video is visible. If you want YouTube Music specifically, the easiest way is to create a playlist in Youtube Music and then import it into the import field in Blind Tunes.
How can I import a YouTube playlist?
Paste a YouTube or YouTube Music playlist link into the import field and the songs or videos will be added to your playlist automatically.
Spotify
Can I use Spotify with Blind Tunes?
You can paste individual Spotify song links and Blind Tunes will find the same song on Apple Music or YouTube for you. No Spotify account or connection is needed — just paste the link.
Can I import a Spotify playlist?
Spotify playlists can’t be imported at this time. You can paste individual Spotify song links one at a time. I would really love to have Spotify on here but at this time it is not possible.
Importing Playlists
How do I import a playlist?
In the builder, paste a playlist link into the import field. Apple Music playlists, YouTube playlists, and YouTube Music playlists all work. The songs from the playlist will be added automatically. You can also paste individual song or video links.
Sharing & Joining
How do I share a playlist with someone?
After finishing a game, you’ll see a share option with your playlist’s unique link (like blindtunes.com/play/CODE). Send it to a friend and they can play your playlist and rank the songs or videos. You can also share your results after ranking. It creates an image you can also upload to social media like Instagram and Facebook or whatever your preferred place for sharing images is.
How do I play someone else’s playlist?
If someone sends you a Blind Tunes link, tap or click it and the playlist will load automatically. You can also choose “Join Game” on the home screen and enter the share code manually.
Explore & Featured Playlists
What are Featured playlists?
Curated playlists that appear on the home screen. Choose one to jump straight into the game. You can filter between Classic and Tournament Showdown playlists. Showdown requires Premium.
What is Explore Playlists?
Browse public playlists created by other players. Sort by Popular or Recent, and filter by content type or game mode. When you create a playlist and choose for it to be public, this is where it goes.
Premium
What does Premium include?
Premium is a one-time purchase — no subscriptions, no recurring charges. It unlocks unlimited daily plays, playlists with up to 50 songs, Tournament Showdown, Multiplayer, Playroom, and the full avatar collection.
How much does Premium cost?
Premium is $4.99 in the iOS app and $3.99 on the web. The in-app purchase includes Apple Family Sharing — everyone in your Apple family gets Premium from a single purchase. Web purchases apply only to that individual account and do not include Family Sharing.
How do I restore my purchase?
On the iOS app, go to your Profile and tap “Restore Purchases.” On the web, your Premium status is tied to your account and restores automatically when you log in.
Account
Can I use the same account on the app and the website?
Yes. Your account, playlists, rankings, and Premium status all sync between the iOS app and blindtunes.com.
How do I change my display name or avatar?
Go to your Profile. Your avatar and display name are at the top — choose either one to change it. Free accounts get two avatar options. Premium unlocks more of the collection.
How do I delete my account?
Go to your Profile, scroll to the bottom, and choose “Delete Account.” This permanently removes your account, playlists, rankings, and all data from our servers. This cannot be undone.
