Random Thursday… I guess.

Random Thursday

I have no idea what I’m doing. Seriously. I opened up my music app, typed “Thursday” in the search bar because… well, it’s Thursday, and then just hit shuffle on whatever popped up. No theme, no vibe check, no “this song fits because of the lyrics about midweek sadness.” Just pure, chaotic randomness. And somehow, eleven tracks later, I ended up with this playlist called Random Thursday. It feels like my brain threw a dart at a calendar and said “good enough.”

First up is this bouncy little number from EXO-CBX. It’s got that colorful, energetic pop feel—like someone spilled a bag of Skittles into a synth and let it party for three minutes straight. It immediately sets the tone: we’re not being serious today.

Then the Pet Shop Boys slide in with their track featuring some mystery guest (the title got cut off, but who cares). It’s five minutes of smooth, wavy 80s vibes that make you want to put on a pastel blazer and pretend you’re in a music video. I don’t know why it ended up here, but I’m not mad. It’s the kind of song that sounds like it was made for driving with the windows down on a day you definitely should be working.

Number three is this short, atmospheric one by noni. Dark trees, moody sunset in the cover art—feels like a walk through the woods at twilight when you’re questioning all your life choices. One minute fifty-five of “what even is time?”

The Weeknd shows up next with his usual smoky, seductive Thursday energy. Five minutes of that velvety voice making you feel like you’re in a dimly lit club at 2 a.m., even if you’re actually just eating cereal in your kitchen at noon. Dangerous. I almost skipped it because it felt too cool for my chaotic playlist, but here we are.

Right after that, Jim Croce comes in swinging with his classic storytelling style. It’s short, sweet, and has that warm, acoustic guitar that makes you nostalgic for times you weren’t even alive for. Suddenly the playlist went from club to campfire in two minutes twenty-seven seconds. I love the whiplash.

Morphine follows with this trippy, dreamy track. Purple lightning on the cover, saxophone floating around—it’s like if your weird uncle who collects vinyl tried to make a jazz record after three cups of coffee. Three minutes of “is this even real?” energy. Perfect for the middle of the playlist when things start getting strange.

Then GOT7 hits with a loud, all-caps THURSDAY that feels like the group collectively yelled the day of the week at you. It’s upbeat, group-vocal heavy, and makes me picture seven guys in coordinated outfits doing choreo in a warehouse. I have zero context for this song but it slapped harder than expected.

Jess Glynne brings some soulful power next. Her voice is like a warm hug from someone who’s had a rough week but is still determined to belt it out. Three minutes thirty-six seconds of “I got this” even though we clearly don’t.

The Stieber Twins roll up after that with something that sounds like it belongs in an old-school hip-hop or electronic beat session. The cover has a bike and “speechless” written on it—feels chaotic and fun, like riding through the city with headphones on and ignoring all responsibilities.

Asobi Seksu takes us into dreamy shoegaze territory for four minutes seventeen seconds. Bright orange cover with what looks like some kind of explosive illustration—it’s fuzzy, loud in the best way, and makes you feel like you’re floating in a cloud of reverb while slightly confused.

Finally, Holly Humberstone closes it out with this intimate, bedroom-pop kind of track. Four minutes of soft, honest vibes that feel like someone’s journaling their Thursday feelings while sitting on the floor surrounded by laundry. It’s a gentle landing after all the earlier chaos.

So yeah. That’s my Random Thursday playlist. Eleven songs that have absolutely nothing in common except that the word “Thursday” appears somewhere in their titles or metadata. No deep meaning, no carefully curated flow—just whatever the algorithm and my complete lack of planning spit out.

If you’re bored on a Thursday and want to experience musical whiplash in the best possible way, give it a spin. Or don’t. I’m not your boss. I’m barely even qualified to make playlists.

See you next Random Whatever-Day-This-Is.
