Happy Earth Day, you beautiful planet huggers! 🌍💚

Whether you believe the Earth is round, flat, or shaped like a giant stack of pancakes (hey, we’re not here to judge), here’s the one thing we can all agree on: we’ve only got one of them!
So today we’re celebrating our big blue (or flat) marble with a feel-good playlist full of songs that make you appreciate the trees, the rivers, the mountains, the birds, and this wild, wonderful world we call home.
It’s a completely blind challenge, so rank these tracks with fresh ears and an open heart. From soulful classics that make you smile at the sky to powerful anthems that remind us we’ve got work to do — this playlist is all about love for Mother Earth.
And yes, I’m pairing it with a gloriously silly photo of a flat Earth surrounded by flat-earthers… because even if the debate rages on, we can all still agree: Let’s take care of the one we’ve got!
A Few Earth-Loving Trivia Gems
“What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong Written in 1967 during a time of war, civil unrest, and national tension, songwriters Bob Thiele and George David Weiss created this as a hopeful antidote. They specifically wanted Louis Armstrong — a man who brought people of all backgrounds together — to sing it. Satchmo initially wasn’t crazy about the song, but he delivered one of the most heartfelt, optimistic performances in music history. Decades later, it’s still the ultimate “look at the beauty around us” anthem.
“Green River” by Creedence Clearwater Revival John Fogerty wrote this nostalgic rocker about happy childhood memories at Putah Creek (which he secretly called “Green River” in his head) near Winters, California. The title actually came from a Green River soda syrup label he remembered from his youth. It’s full of dragonflies, bullfrogs, rope swings, and pure summer joy — a love letter to simple days spent in nature.
“Earth Song” by Michael Jackson Michael wrote this powerful ballad while on tour in Austria, feeling deep pain about the state of the planet. He described it as “the voice of the Earth” itself — nature crying out against pollution, deforestation, and mankind’s mistreatment. The song asks the big questions: “What about the seas?” “What about the heavens are we gonna do?” It remains one of the most emotionally charged environmental anthems ever recorded.
The rest of the lineup keeps the good vibes rolling with John Denver’s nature-loving classics, Israel Kamakawiwo‘ole’s peaceful medley, Enya’s dreamy “Caribbean Blue,” and The Beatles’ gentle “Blackbird” — a perfect mix of hope, beauty, and quiet calls to action.
So come on gang… let’s save the Mother Earth! Reduce, reuse, recycle, plant a tree, pick up some trash, and crank this playlist while you do it.
